Aloha.nl note: When you're inexperienced with - liquid or solid - fertilizing additives, do Not use these. You can easily burn your seeds and plants with these. Use pure Distilled Water when Germinating at 22C/72F and use Prefertilized pot-earth from your garden centre when transplanting. There's a system for fertilization through growth. Know the tricks and your local circumstances before you slowly introduce these, THX.

Germination
First let your seeds germinate. One way to do this is to place the seeds in a cup of fresh water which you have to refresh daily. After 2-4 days the seeds will have opened and are ready to be planted out, indoors under lamps, in greenhouses or outdoors.

Outdoor growing
The opened seeds can be planted out in the full ground or in large pots. Make sure the soil has enough nutrients. To get a large yield use big pots. Yields of 300-600 grams can be realized. The flowering period starts for most of the varieties when the light cycle (photoperiod) is at 12 hours a day. Outdoors this means that the start of the flowering season varies. This depends on the latitude.

Greenhouses
In greenhouses the quality and yields can even be higher. You can also make the plant flower earlier by making the day light cycle short till 12 hours light per day. Therefore it is possible to harvest whenever you want, after a flowering period of about 2 months.

Indoor growing
Under lamps it is possible for everyone who has a small space available. It demands a little more care but you can harvest up to 6 times a year. Per square meter you can harvest yields of 400 to 500 grams. Growing indoors is more complicated because now you have to control all the conditions. For example, the temperature shouldn't be higher than 25 degrees Celsius or lower than 20 degrees Celsius. You need to ventilate the growing space well. The best results can be achieved with 400 or 600 watt sodium or other high pressure-light systems. Hang 1 or 2 lamps on 1.5 square meter. You should cultivate your plants with a balanced mix of nutrients whether it is on soil or on another medium. When grown on soil give enough water but never overdo it.

Nutrients
Realize the plants need lots of nutrients, more than in most soils is available. It is necessary to fertilize the soil with organic material. The cannabis plant likes a neutral soil, (pH 6-7). Important nutrients are N,P,K, and Magnesium. Calcium is important for the transmitting of nutrients within the plants as well as for neutralizing the pH value. For example, worm casts contains lots of Nitrogen which makes the plant grow strong. Phosphorus is especially needed in the flowering period. Nowadays there are also biological stimulators available, such as rooting and flowering-stimulator that can help your plant grow in optimal conditions. These are active only in a certain stage of the plants’ life, when used properly these stimulators can make quite a difference

Sensimilla
Smokes best! You should separate the male plants from the females. The females are the ones with the flowers you want for consumption .You can recognize them by the difference of the flowers. The female plant has got the "hairs", while the male plant has the "balls".

To avoid pollination remove the male plants from the females before they open their pollen balls. This way you will be sure to get real sensimilla which also means larger harvests.

Cloning
Another tip is to select females to clone. This way you get an identical copy of the mother plant. Once you have smoked the mother plant you know which one you like the most. The fact that you can make clones, means you can continue your favorite for as long as you like. To make a clone you should take a branch and cut it above the third internode as on picture 1. Cut of the side leaves, see picture 2. The wounds from cutting need to be dipped into rooting hormone, such as Rhizopon AA 0.5%.

Put the clone in a small hole in special clone soil with a minimum of 18 hours light per day. After 2 to3 weeks the clones are growing and have developed enough roots to move to bigger pots.

As soon as roots appear you can use rooting stimulator.

Insects
With indoor growing spidermites are the worst insects for your plants. In the beginning you can hardly see them, but they multiply rapidly, especially at high temperatures. The natural enemy for them is spidex (Phytoselius Persimilis) Lady bugs are also very effective. You can buy them at biological system companies. For spidermites and other insect extermination, you can also use biological sprays on your plants. There are no side effects and it dissolves after a few days. Repeating the procedure may be necessary.

The harvest
Harvest the flowers when ready! The flowering process is still strong when there is a daily produce of new white "hairs". Harvest when most of the hairs turn brown. Cut the plants, take of all the big fan leaves to save lots of work later on. Let it hang to dry for about ten days in a 18 degrees Celsius, dark ventilated place. Then trim of the smaller leaves, save these to make hash. Now the time is ready to enjoy your home-made smoke.
